Though I live in Southern California, where we basically have one, maybe two seasons, I still get cold. Even in the middle of summer, California nights can get especially chilly. I’m not exactly an outdoor-sy kind of gal. I like the outdoors, don’t get me wrong – and I love the beach – but the rugged, down and dirty outdoors – no thank you. I have this weird thing about my feet being dirty. What? I said it was weird. But it’s why I pretty much detest camping.

Who doesn’t love candlelight? I mean, everyone looks good by it and it saves on electricity, so what’s not to love? I especially love candlelight outdoors, particularly on summer nights with a cool cocktail and some good friends. Which is why you must, must, must check out this DIY project from gerardot & co., via design sponge. It’s an outdoor, recycled wine bottle torch and it’s way more hip and stylish than any tiki torch I’ve ever seen! And now my drinking habit can have an afterlife. Bonus!

Charm Hanging Birdfeeder is welded steel made entirely by hand. It’s a mere 12″ in diameter and features a stainless steel screen, which holds the seeds, welded to two stainless steel rods.
